Apex Systems is in search of a Maintenance Mechanic. The
Maintenance Mechanic's primary function is to install, repair,
rebuild and maintain all the mechanical equipment at the facility
including the infrastructure for the site. The person that holds
this position will work in the maintenance shop, outdoors, in
production areas, non-production areas, on roofs, from ladders and
man lifts as assigned and/or may be assigned to a work in a
specific area of the Plant. On a daily basis performs a variety of
routine mechanical work and inspections to maintain mechanical
systems at the facility.
Work Performed: Read blueprints, works from sketches, and
installs equipment. Adjusts, overhauls, or repairs equipment and
machinery including pneumatic and hydraulic equipment.
Threads, cuts, welds, drills, materials and prepares the
materials to complete work assignment. Works alone or as part of a
crew under the direction of a Maintenance Group Leader/Assistant
Group Leader, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager.
Works in the maintenance shop or plant both indoors and
outdoors. May be required to work from ladders, scaffolds, high
lifts, roofs, and elevated platforms. Installs, rebuilds, repairs
piping systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, pollution
control equipment, agitators, pumps, gearboxes, and other
mechanical site equipment. Works with I/E Department personnel to
remove/install motors, solenoid valves, actuators, etc Keeps
maintenance shop, work area, and equipment clean and orderly.
Cleans up debris resulting from work at the end of each job or
the end of each work shift. May be required to work any shift,
Saturday and/or Sunday, overtime, or Holidays. May be required to
work with hazardous materials while wearing the appropriate PPE at
all times. Performs predictive and preventative maintenance to
plant equipment. Candidate should be able to lift a minimum of 50
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Mount, dismount and operate a variety of models of power lift
equipment such as fork trucks, scissors lift, and aerial lifts.
Ascend and descend stairs, vertical ladders and work platforms.
Work in different positions and do heavy lifting. Operate
electrical and pneumatic tools such as impact wrenches, drills,
saws, grinders, and pipe threading machines.
Operate a cutting torch, electric welder, and other equipment
that use industrial gases. Install, troubleshoot, and repair
industrial process equipment.
Work in close, confined spaces such as tanks, platforms, under,
on top of, and between equipment. Work at heights, such as on top
of bins, on building roofs, the top of tank, from man lifts, from
scaffolding and from ladders.
Work inside where temperatures can exceed 100?F or outside in
cold temperature and all types of weather conditions (i.e. rain and
At times when necessary wear a respirator while working.
Routinely wear specialized PPE (i.e. face shield and chemical
resistant jacket, pants, gloves, boots) to perform work. Wear a
hardhat, safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and
glove while performing most work activities.
Read and understand warning signs and hazard labels. Perform
basic mathematical functions and understand units of measure in
both English and metric system. Recognize dangerous and potentially
dangerous situations within a chemical manufacturing environment
and take corrective action to eliminate the danger.
