Job Description Job Description MGS has an exciting opportunity
for a Buyer to join our MGS Richfield Manufacturing team. As a
Buyer at MGS, you are responsible for developing and maintaining
commodity suppliers, purchasing assigned materials at the lowest
total cost for the quantity, quality, and delivery required, and
communicating promptly any material problems and lead in finding
solutions. Below are additional duties and responsibilities: Know
and follow all of the Company's safety rules, such as safe work
practices and standard operating procedures. Serve as a good role
model to employees for safe work practices and behavior by
conducting yourself professionally, keeping in mind your own safety
and the safety of others. Learn and master all necessary areas of
the quality system. Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and
Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Develop and maintain
responsible suppliers for those specified commodities. Know the key
personnel at each major supplier; understand their production
processes and internal systems. Conducts review of supplier's
facilities and product/process capabilities to assess current and
potential supplier qualification. Maintains a strong supplier
database utilizing the supplier scorecard ranking their
performance. This report is completed on a monthly basis grading
suppliers on key measures such as quality, delivery, price, and
cost savings. Obtains competitive quotations and selects suppliers
based on quality, cost, lead-time, service and financial stability.
Obtain the lowest possible cost through negotiation, competitive
bidding, and market and supplier knowledge. Analyze and evaluate
quotes from potential suppliers. Aggressively seek and recommend
cost saving possibilities based upon new sources, substitutes,
improved systems, or new items. Review demands via MRP output using
ERP software and negotiates the placement of purchase orders with
suppliers who can meet required delivery dates. Expedite materials
when required and handle any rejections or other problems on
materials purchased. Communicate with customer service, program
managers, accounting, shipping, receiving, quality and other
departments as needed. Monitor current purchase price to current
standard cost via Purchase Price Variance (PPV) report. Establish a
PPV favorable minimum goal to achieve a targeted annual cost
savings goal. Understand the computerized procurement system (ERP)
and its relationship to the various interfacing systems. Maintain
all purchasing databases to ensure dependent departments have
prompt, accurate information. Use generated reports and screens for
control and purchasing decisions. Performs all duties and
responsibilities in accordance with established operating
procedures and standards of ethical conduct. Any other duties as

candidate would fulfill these requirements: High school diploma or
equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in related field is a
plus. 2-4 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing
environment or a combination of on-the-job training and experience.
