Job Title: Nurse Manager Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty:
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours
per Shift: 8 Experience: Five (5) years of nursing experience
within a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Two (2) years of experience
in nursing supervision or experience as a charge nurse License:
Licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of
Illinois Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS)
Certification Current Neonatal Pulmonary Resuscitation card (NRP)
or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire Must-Have: Bachelor
of Science in Nursing from a school of nursing Description: The
Nurse Manager oversees daily operations, patient care quality, and
staff for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This role manages
hiring, scheduling, budgeting, policy development, and ensures
compliance. The Nurse Manager fosters a positive environment for
caring for critically ill pediatric patients and their families.
They work closely with neonatologists, pediatric specialists, and
other staff members. Responsibilities include reviewing applicable
Collective Bargaining Agreements and consulting with Labor
Relations. Participation in collective bargaining negotiations and
working meetings is expected. The manager will document and
recommend disciplinary actions as necessary. Working closely with
labor relations and/or labor counsel is part of the role. Direct
management policies and practices must be executed effectively. The
Nurse Manager will navigate the records system to obtain necessary
information. Contributions to the management of staff and systemic
development are key duties. They will develop system policies and
procedures. Consistently using independent judgment to identify
operational staffing issues is essential. Functions such as hiring,
transferring, suspending, laying off, recalling, promoting,
discharging, assigning, directing, or disciplining employees must
be performed. Collaboration with Labor Relations may be necessary
to discern past practice. Preferred qualifications include a
Master's Degree in Nursing. Bilingual candidates are also favored.
